What Sharing My Writing Taught Me

Here we are at the end of another year yet again. Time flies by quickly, but 2023 was different for me, and full of learning experiences and firsts, as I began sharing my writing with the world.

When I discovered Medium in June earlier this year, I didn’t have many hopes or expectations. I just knew that I had a voice somewhere in me, and was eager to seek my voice. I’ll always remember my first published story even if it was a disaster, because it marked the beginning of a new chapter in my life as a writer.

Sharing my writing this year on Medium and other online communities felt like a big step forward from writing only to myself, and there were many positive takeaways.

The most valuable thing that sharing my writing taught me is that I have a voice, and creativity that I can use to my advantage, but need to use it.

Before I started sharing my writing, I worried about the impression that my writing would create. I couldn’t wrap my head around the setbacks, the things I had been told, and the idea of failure.

I didn’t want people to think my writing was generated, because I always dreaded the idea that AI can be used as a writing aid and thought it was sick of people to post generated articles.
